Achievement Award

  • Extended Deadline: March 12 (if the annual deadline falls on a weekend the application is due the following Monday)
  • Criteria: Must be enrolled at KU full time (12 hours for undergraduates/6 hours for graduate and professional students) for both the fall and spring semesters of the academic year during which the recipient is selected. Must have a minimum current overall GPA of 3.00 for undergraduates, 3.50 for graduate and professional students, and 2.50 for law students on a 4.00 scale.

BFSC Undergraduate, Graduate and Professional Student Achievement Award Application

BFSC Unit Award

This award is given to an academic or administrative unit that exhibits a commitment to diversity in the workplace through any or all of the following activities:

  • aggressive recruitment of black faculty or staff
  • establishment of a work environment conducive to the retention of black faculty or staff
  • development and successful implementation of a diversity plan

This award is given annually to an individual for outstanding service to black KU students. This individual should be:

  • active in the black campus community
  • aware and supportive of the initiatives of the BFSC

This award is given to the KU alumnus/alumna who, through his/her efforts, has supported the university in its commitment to diversity, particularly as it pertains to the black campus community. These efforts may include:

  • strong participation in university/alumni association activities, and
  • active engagement with black campus community.

This award is given by the National Panellenic Council to a member of the NPHC Greek community who exhibits exceptional leadership skills.

These awards are given to African American/Black/African KU undergraduate and graduate students who show evidence of leadership potential and interest and involvement in the Black community. Beginning Fall 2010, this award is open only to sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students.
